Jacinto Policarpo

Born and raised in a rural area, Nature has always been part of my life. During my childhood I spent most of my time in the countryside, between playing and running, the sound of the birds, the trees in the wind, were well rooted in my memory and in my heart. Over the years, the interest in nature developed in front of the TV watching documentaries from the BBC and National Geographic with my father. The taste for art has also always been present in my life, as an autodidact I started to make my first sketches in oil and pastel, always with natural motifs (mainly landscapes). The passage to photography happened around 2008. Painting (with several more technical issues) didn’t have the “immediate” characteristic that I always liked in photography and that’s when I started trying to portray what I was trying to paint, but now on a slightly different “canvas”.
