Ricardo Alves

Ricardo S. Alves was born in Lisbon (1976) and graduated in civil engineering from FCT-UNL. A rock climber and outdoor enthusiast from an early age, he saw his passion for adventure photography grow. As a freelance photographer, he regularly collaborates with climbing magazines and his work has been honoured in international photography competitions. For more than two decades he has documented and followed the development of climbing in Portugal, playing an important role in its dynamisation.
He was the photographer responsible for the images in the guidebook “Portugal – Rock climbs on the western tip of Europe”, launched in 2017, and the author of the “Sintra Bouldering Guidebook”, launched in 2021.
